LIGHTING & PORTRAIT WORKSHOP

  • Studio 122 # 122, 4029 8 Street Southeast Calgary, AB, T2G 3A5 Canada (map)

The workshop begins with a 1-on-1 Zoom call with Jeremy (scheduled prior to the in-studio workshop). This session is designed to discuss your goals, expectations, and how to accommodate the day for you.

The second part of the workshop takes place in a professional commercial studio, where we’ll break down the tools and techniques behind strong portrait lighting. You’ll gain a clear understanding of strobes, modifiers, light meters, and camera settings. The goal is to remove the guesswork so you can confidently translate your ideas into portfolio-quality images from a technical and creative lens.

Throughout the day, you’ll photograph professional models while experimenting with a variety of lighting setups. With access to a wide range of lighting equipment and modifiers, you’ll see firsthand how different tools shape and control light.

We’ll also focus on set etiquette while directing your subject and building rapport on set, helping you communicate clearly with each model. The goal is to give you the space to experiment, refine your lighting approach, and leave with a new body of work for your portfolio and the confidence to photograph people creatively and professionally.

This workshop is for photographers of all abilities looking to start or continue using studio lighting in their photography. It is strongly advised you have an understanding of shutter-speed, aperture, ISO, and how to adjust these settings in your camera confidently.
